A few hay making videos....

I've been busy & as a result, not on here much. It took me a bit to crank out these videos with everything that is going on. I must say that this type of work is a bit too tedious to accomplish in the evening after a long day & I took a nap while making a couple of them. :vD

One thing I would like to mention about my videos, is that they are now going to be monetized with ads. YouTube's new policy gave the creators notice that they (YouTube) will be monetizing videos as of June 2nd & collecting the cash on any video that is not monetized by the subscriber. If the subscriber has their own videos monetized, they'll continue receiving their revenues. So.... faced with the decision between YouTube making money off of my efforts or puting the few pennies I get from all that into my pocket, I'm going to go with the latter option. Just letting everyone know this, as my original policy was NO ADS!

And, if you are wondering.... YES! I have to endure ads on my own *^#% videos!

Either way.... enjoy!

Nice videos! Bring back some memories. Cut my baling teeth on a 47 only ours had the #10 thrower on the back and was usually pulled with a 656 hydro. Somewhere around my 16th birthday (15th to 17th) my brother (three years older) and I made a little over 2000 bales in one day. We only had three small wagons and ended the day with all unloaded. Think I was too tired to even think about cake and ice cream! Lost track of how many loads I unloaded and stacked by myself, if brother had run out of empty wagons he would bring last load in and help til all 3 were unloaded then we would start all over again til he caught up baling. Only break I would get, other than dragging wagons. Wagons held around 100 bales, typical unload time for the two of us was 10 minutes a load. Paul

I am curious; you use an inverter rather than a tedder to turn the hay over? But that drops it to the side, on top another windrow. I dont see the advantage unless it was with double raked alfalfa.

The idea of that inverter is to flip the hay over 180 without leaving a twist to it like a standard bar rake. That isn't always the case. I've noticed tall hay tends to get a twist to it. It will also happen with slower ground speeds. In the video, I'm travelling between 5 & 6 MPH. That seems to be the sweet spot.

When I use the inverter for drying, the second row gets merged into the first. Then there's an empty spot to lay the individual windrows in the rest of the field. When I merge the windrows before baling, I start in the inside & work my way out. The outer windrow then gets flipped to dry the underside of the very first one. It's usually dry by the time I get back with the baler. If not, it's the last hay to get baled.

As for drying time, it is my experience that the inverter fluffs the hay more than a bar rake & the drying time is considerably shorter.
