The Stick Shed

Did not want to de-rail KCM's crib thread but on my travels in Australia I was introduced to this corn store. Never seen anything quite so big.

Across the road at Muratoa, Victoria, is a building that is also pretty impressive, a slaughter house and ice making plant for the sheep trade where trains were brought in, trucks filled with the meat and ice for cooling put in containers on top of the trucks. The buildings are now a furniture workshop but the engine and compressor shed for the ice making plant is still there filled with the large single cylinder engines.

Here is the info Bill, in the video. The engines weigh around 20 tons, they are gas, not petrol or diesel and were installed in 1911 to drive the freezer compressors. Made by Ruston-Hornsby here in England.

They are certainly impressive when they start and run, the whole floor shakes.
