Guess who just poked a hole in a tyre? My hay rake sat in the waist tall grass behind the shed and I was going to get it hooked to the tractor. Thought Id better cut that grass for better access to the 3-point so I took the scythe and made my way to the rake. Couldnt see very well but I thought I knew where the wheels were. Obviously I didnt. Pssssssss.. Fortunately I had a spare tube on the shelf so I am ready to rake.

Had a rim once I welded a patch on it with the bead broken the metal in the bead melted and ruined a 1000 dollar tire HERES YOUR

Last new tires I bought was for my little kubota. Within two weeks I ran over a stick and put a hole in the sidewall. Couldn't get the tire shop to patch it, the guy explained to me if it failed at freeway speed and I had a wreck they would be responsible. Had to use
that tire for about 5 years with four plugs and then the tire got cracks in it where it was leaking through the cracks so had to get tubes for it. Still can't figure out how I could get that little garden tractor up to freeway speed.

Yes,I read where the bead was broken. It can still go BOOM.Watch the Utube videos about welding on rims with tires still mounted.Scary

The pyrolysis can cause a partially mounted tire to explode. If he got the tire hot enough to be ruined, it could have happened. I heated an empty brake hose fitting to remove it from a T fitting (propane torch) that rubber hose detonated and 6 inches of hose disappeared and I could not hear for an hour. Jim

The only problem the YouTube videos have a gauge hooked to the tire so there is nowhere for the pressure to go so of course it can build up and kaboom . Cant build up pressure in an open hole

So (not a flame) how often do I here of the ether used to seat a bead. I would guess that is about 10 % of the force caused by pyrolysis. Reality is harsh. Jim

I've welded rims with the tire on them. Was careful to cool them as I went with water hose. Also if there is a gap with a 2x4 between the rim/wheel edge and the tire how can one explode. No pressure build up.

You got away with it. Whew. If someone says Well, Caterpillar Guy did it so Me too. Boom. Why because they had a tube type tire and the inner rim liner went Pyrolytic. It is just not reasonable. I enjoy reading every thing you post with this exception. Jim

And the tire in the video is still on the bead . Ether doesnt hardly have enough pop to seat one anymore
