Extra tractor parts.

This past week I have been busy in cleaning up extra tractor parts. Getting them ready for a tractor show / Swamp meet in August. I plan to get some parts out of my shop because I am tired of walking over them on the floor. It will be a big help to get these parts out of the shop because I know have the projects done. which means I am finding out that I do not need these parts any more. spending time on eBay looking up the parts to see what people have price them for. Wanting and trying to be fair on the prices on these parts. Hate it when people come to me and use the saying it is cheaper on eBay. You might say it pisses me off to hear it. I wonder how many of you have heard the same words. I had decided if I was going to the August tractor show in Nevada that I would go ahead and rent a spot to sell some of the parts that I am tired of walking over in my shop. Need to clean it out. Just thought I would post this thought on this section today

If you are using ebay as a pricing guide why are you getting mad when someone else does it? Doesn't make sense to me.

I read it as Brent's pricing is based on what he sees on eBay and then people try to beat him down because they claim it's cheaper on eBay. Back in the late 90s, before internet equipment sales took off, I had a guy try to get a hay rake from me cheap by claiming in Pennsylvania, they give them away. Which I knew wasn't true because I based my price on what I saw similar rakes going for in the Lancaster Farming newspaper. I told him well, take a trailer to Pennsylvania and bring one home, cause you ain't getting this one.

I agree!! Was looking at a Diamond T truck one time. (I'm in Montana.) I asked the price and he told me.
I said sorry, that a bit rich for my blood. Hey says well, that's what they get for them in California!!
I told him, well, I guess you better load it up and take it there.

I always thought the prices on parts on ebay were outrageous.

So do many other people, as evidenced by many of these parts sitting on ebay for months and years, unsold.

If you're using ebay for pricing, you will still be walking over these parts on the floor of your shop after the August show.

Unless you plan on making a career out of running from tractor show flea market to tractor show flea market in your retirement, you may want to consider pricing the parts to sell, not to show. A lot of the "vendors" at these shows are just there to show off what they have. They're not interested in selling. If they sold they would have no reason to come to the show.

Funny thing about eBay. Asking and actually getting are two different things.

I see lots of parts advertised for high prices. I also see a lot that are priced low. Guess which ones sell first?

The only real way to set a price is to see what they are actually selling for - not just asking. If a part is on a true auction and has a lot of bids, you can figure that it is not priced too high. If it is a true auction and has no bids, it is probably not going to get any.

I think you got what I was thinking. I have been in places wanting to buy stuff. Every body tells me this is what eBay say's it is for. I then walk away and very upset. what i want to do is see what eBay say's and beat the price. Knowing I am going to my tractor show and the club I am member in. Knowing that my members will try to get me to give it to them dirt cheap. I have had this happen before because they will state eBay say's this price. I only want to be treated fair.

I need to get an Ideal on prices. Because I am going to a tractor show and plan to sell some stuff to the club members In my club. I did this in the past three years and found out later they all took me for very cheap prices. No body never even thought to even say thank you. the words was out of there mouth was eBay listing say's. All I wanted was to be treated fair.

To answer your question: It is simple for me to know that eBay price is and then go with that money price and
beat it. why because the place where I am going to is a tractor show in which I am a member in that club.
With in the years I have sold some stuff but the members except the price to be dirt cheap. than I get home
and in yet two month later see it on eBay for three time they amount of money. I am bring to the show some
hard to find parts for lift systems for a I.H. Cub. Yes I already have them on mine just tired killing myself
in dark walking over them after turning off lights in shop. do not want to sell them on the computer because
it is 50 mile in to town to get any thing ship out of my area. all i want is to get them out of my way but
still get treated fair in the club. that is all I ask.

Take it to the meet, and sell it. Don't be like some old tractor guys that have dozens of tractors to part out , rusting away in the weeds on their junkyard property and haven't sold more than a basketful of parts in 25 years. Keep your place looking neat and businesslike.
