These photos are of a 6 volt sealed beam lamp from a Massey Harris 33. It has the raised letters Guide and Sealed Tractor Unit on the front surface. Also has the interesting raised letters Top LH and Top RH meaning Top on which side they are mounted relative to the tractor. Has anyone seen these or heard of them? It's a first for me!

I would think that is because they are like the old automotive low-beam headlight. The bulb/filament is offset a bit- I think toward the top-so it puts more light down on the ground rather than up into the sky.

All of the triple series Masseys had this kind of bulb. I have opened burnt out ones and soldered in a new base for a bulb. I have 2 brand new ones.

Guide Lamp In Anderson In. At one time made all the headlights and tail lights for all GM cars, and headlight for most tractors. The Guide management would look for work to cover slow times and at one time made rollers for JOHN DEERE hay conditioners and plastic chairs. But detroit found out and said stop that we are in the car business.

The lens is designed to diffuse the light to the right from center on the RH (maybe 50% more right than left), and opposite that on the LH. There is no real need to shine on the hood, and good reason to illuminate to the front and sides. Probably very little cutoff up and down. Jim
