IH 144 c.i. engine - downdraft carb swap?

has anyone found the answer to this? mine is on its last led and I can't afford the prices they want for these, Thanks
 
Since you replied to an older post the content of the original topic did not show up. A few more details of what this engine is in and what the problem is would be helpful. Outside of a few of the early F series tractors not many others had down draft carbs. I do not see 144 c.i. in the IHC truck engine list that I have access to either.

Could this carb on the 144ci ( IH 276?) be the same one used on the B414 or even the IH 434?

Could this carb on the 144ci ( IH 276?) be the same one used on the B414 or even the IH 434?

Doug, the topic of the post he replied to says ..downdraft carb.. the models you are asking about all have ..updraft.. carbs. One of the reasons I ask for him to clarify. I suppose you could use an updraft carb with some rigged up U-shape adapter, but why? Need more details.
 
I imagine the carb he's asking about is the British Zenith downdraft on the BC144 engine. I had one on a 3444 TLB. It had a round
float and an accelerator pump. I was able to repair mine, but it was longer ago than I care to remember!
