1940 to 1960 all over again

We got a welcomed 3.9 inch rain night before last. My oldest son has been anxious to get his soybeans planted but has been too dry till now. Made a start planting them this evening till it got too dark. Thought we were going to have to put duals on his 140 to hold up the tractor to the grinning. Ole dad got downgraded to field cultivator duty which was fine. Good enjoyable time was had by all.

I tried to plant some of mine earlier in the week but it was too dry in the bottoms. Hopefully we can make a run on them this week.

We finishe up the 27or28th planting. It was dry but if we wait then it gets to wet and lose a few days drying out again and that much later.

Nice soil. Beats Houston Black Clay.....except for it's ability to hold water and provide moisture for hot weather crops.
