to make loading cows easier.

i built this for loading cows yesterday. that will make things a little easier. seams like always a stubborn one in the crowd. recycled some old fence posts and 2x8's those posts are hard, i have seen people use a claw hammer in their shop but i had to use a ball been hammer to pound the nails in. them coated nails would just bend , had to use common.

Don't know if it would work with cows, but I found a quick way to get hogs up a chute.

Turn them away from the chute and put a 5 gallon bucket over their head. They'll try to back out of the bucket and you can back them right up the chute.

Hardwoods require pre-drilling a pilot hole for nails and screws. Soap works as a lubricant on tough to drive screws and nails.

I saw the first pic only before scrolling, so thought maybe the was going to be used like a battering ram to swing at them and push them on the trailer or truck.....

Turned out to be a post you were carving......

All in fun, but what crossed my mind.

Nice job there, now get some 2 or 2-3/8 pipe, cut a little longer
than your alleyway is wide, to use as no back up sticks. your helper
person can slide those in horizontal behind the cow rump.
of course you have to pull it out to get the remainder up the chutes...

Good job. Best of you can get them all going the same direction in a narrow alley for sure. I had one jump up on the one in front of him in the alley at the sale barn one time though, flipped him right over on his back with no room to roll over to get up.

Nice job and I like the idea of some backup sticks. I don't like to do it but I will use my cattle prod to entice them to jump in the trailer as a last resort.

If plywood is available that is what I would use on the inside. i have found that a chute that they can't see through keeps them moving better than with a view.

Nice looking chute, should be strong enough, unless youre loading Buffalo. I poured a sloping concrete ramp at the end of mine to bring it up level with the floor of the trailer. Put a very rough finish on it.

yes, plywood is my first choice. the less they see the better. plus i have 4x4's as a rump stopper to slide in front of the posts. thought this one out for them ornary buggar's. yep the trick is to keep them moving.
