Kubota front axle oil

I do the maintenance on the Kubota tractor the local land trust purchased used. It is in excellent condition however all fluids are going to be changed. Is it safe to put GL-5 in the front axle? Or should it be GL-4? I don't think there would be any bronze or brass in there but want to be safe. And I know some GL-5 may be safe now. The manual says only 80-90 gear oil. Any recommendations? Thanks

Kubota recommends SUDT2 hydraulic oil for the front axle in all of my Kubota tractors.

SAE80 or SAE90 is listed as an alternative on at least one. Did not check the others.

I have been using 80w90 in all I work on. I did one a few weeks ago it got 80w90...
They have been 3600 up to 4400 bota's I would put it in my 4600 without hesitation. I may drain mine and put 80w90 in it the bearings and the lower gear take a beating if 4x4 is used much...

All at 7/800 hr needed all the bearings in the front drives... The one I did a few weeks ago a seal went to leaking it surprised me all the bearings where good that was a first... It was no surprise it got all new bearings/seals : )...

I find most leave it in 4x4 why I dunno...

Kubota Super UDT from your Kubota dealer. Why would you try to go cheap with something so expensive?

Front axle on both my Kubotas calls for Kubota universal fluid or 80w90. I've used both, the 80w90 is very thick for -30 use, the hydraulic fluid much better for jumping on road and driving when cold out.

Make sure you drain the wheel gear casting things, thats where the junk accumulates.

Be advised that SUDT2 recently went up about 30%.

Not just Kubota, CNH as well and probably all others.

It should not be ran in 4x4 on the road I doubt 80/90 is going to effect the front final drives when its cold out...

The front final drives are extremely crude their is not much to them. I don't care what he runs, as for bota UDT they fail with it in the sumps...

I repaired the trans on one a 4K bill I did not pour bota fluid back in it. I put bota spec fluid in it but not out of a bota bucket...

As for HST I do pour it out of a bota bucket : )

Very important NOT to drive on hard surfaces in Four Wheel Drive. People (particularly Americans) are in too big of a hurry to shift out of FWD. On my M6800, it takes a
little bit of fidgeting, usually letting it back up a little, to get it back out of FWD. Just has a mechanical cable with a handle that's out of sight and no indicator on
the dash. So, I can see it happening but all it takes is a little forethought.

The extra drag at -30 from the 80/90 in front axle is quite noticeable but within 20 mins it warms up. Above freezing don't really notice it.

The 4wd lever position has no bearing on it, axle is driven from the front wheels in 2wd.

I don't understand your post. The MFWD engagement handle engages/disengages the fronr wheel drive feature. With MFWD engaged the drive line will tend to bind up on hard surfaces such as roads causing additional and unnecessary wear on the tires, mostly the front tires, and the driveline as well. Continually doing this will cause driveline problems that you don't need to experience$$$ It's all well and good that the front wheel gears turn with the axle but if MFWD is engaged they will be trying to rotate at different speeds due to different wheel RPM. ?????So, what, if anything, did I misunderstand in your post?
