Can you even buy a good one ? No matter what you mention
somewhere someone will say oh thats the biggest pos I
wouldnt put one on a lawnmower. So Is there anything worth
buying

Supposed to be a 15.5 looks more like a 13.6 although I like
the tread pattern
 
I had a set of galaxy 2000'2 on one of my skid steers, they were good tires. Lasted a long tire and rode nice. I bought a set of galaxy beefy babies to go on another machine, and like you say they are a good inch or inch and a half narrower than the bobcat brand tires I was running. They do ride good though. Nathan
 
15.5 were more of a low profile tire....wider than a 13.6 but lower section height. To get a taller tire, you have to go to a 14.9 or a 16.9

I think they shrink like fast food hamburgers have. Replaced the rear tires on golf cart. Same exact size. New tires are visibly smaller in circumference .
 
I run 15.5's on my 2510. My uncle runs the same on his 2510. From brand new my Firestone's were visibly shorter than his half worn down tires. What's wrong with your tires? Is it just because they are undersized? I'm not real impressed with my Firestone tires. They haven't split and are wearing well but they get flat spots bad. If the tractor sits for more than a day or two you think you're on a carnival ride. Eventually I need to get another set of 15.5's for a different tractor. If you find a decent tire post back and let us know.
 
I zoomed in on your picture with my phone and I see what you mean by undersized. Looks like they barely seat on the rim. They look like the 13.6s someone put on my second 2510.

You can argue all you want about tread and traction, but my experience has been that name brand tires like Goodyear and firestone don't weather crack as quickly as any of the second line brands, bkt, galaxy etc.
 
You are correct on that. My step son is a manager at fountain tire and that is his exact words. Not saying negative just giving a fact. I was debating titan or BKT. He said titan is a better tire and BKT will start cracking in a few years. I liked titan better anyhow.
 
I think I shall never ever understand tire numbering system. I can make no logic out of it.

Sort of like Gleaner combine lettering system, they just picked a letter for the next combine, no relation to size or age, just a random letter.

I think best equivalent for the 15.5-38 is 380/80r38:

380mm wide.
Sidewall height is 80% of tire width
Rim is 38 inch.

Calculated Overall diameter in mm is:
2x380x0.8+38x25.4

Not that hard IMHO.
 
I like my 480 80 38 a lot better than the 18.4.38

I thought you were going to send me a container full 480 and
380 and while your at it some 480 30 if there is such a thing
 
My 4020 originally had 15.5,38 inside and 13.6.38 outside duals the 13.6.38 never touched the ground until the inside tire suck in about 3 inches .
 
Almost all my machines sit out, I will say my father's Ford has one Goodyear that he bought just before I was born, I'm 38, and it outlasted the polish off brand tire that was put on the other side about 8 years later, and is actually looking better than the farmpower or something like that off brand tire that replaced it about a half dozen years ago

That's funny because 15.5's and 13.6's are supposed to have the same loaded radius. The 15.5 was created to offer more ground contact for higher horsepower tractors in the mid-late 1950's.

Unless you have them crammed on to 10" rims, then the 15.5's crown up pretty good. I have a set on a Super M and they're bulged out in the middle and look like 14.9's.
