First new tractor

I bought my first NEW tractor, a Mahindra 4540, this week but
have two Farmall 100s and a Yanmar.
Obviously, quite a difference in ride quality but still intend to
use my Farmalls for gardening.
So Im tickled pick. Anybody remember their FIRST NEW
tractor?

You couldn't give me a Mahindra of any type. If you did it would be for sale the moment I got it there junk to me. Worked on one one time and learned there a night mare to work on and parts are hard to come by

I've only bought one brand new. A 4040 Deere. It was delivered February 19 1981. I paid $22,900 for it. Pretty special feeling having a new one. Congratulations.

My Dad bought a new Ford 6000 SOS when they first came out. Piece of crap, junk, in the repair shop more than in the field. It was red if I recall

Ford then took our old 6000 and gave us a new one, blue I think. It didn't spend a lot of time in the repair shop.

To this day, I'll never own a Ford with SOS.

I bought 2019 Kubota L3560. Less than 100 hours. I love it.

I dont mean to be rude, Old, but I didnt ask for your opinion of a Mahindra. I asked about how people felt when they bought their first NEW tractor.

It is a special feeling indeed. Im 64 years old and always used older tractors, which have given me great service, but it is so nice to have a new one that rides so much better.

John Deere 2955 in 1991 for 39k. 8000 hours later it's still going strong. Good Luck with your new machine.

Ben

I was 4 when my dad purchased a Super H. We traded a 10-20 on rubber for it. It set next to a 48 M (I was in glory just sitting on it, or the M it was bigger, but less shiny) still have the SH. Jim

Never owned a new tractor and probably never will but then again I have a few to many of them.

As for the opinion that was a warning as to what you may have to look forward to when it breaks down

Old I enjoy 99% of your posts and I really respect your ability to work on most anything. But if you posted about a new tractor you were proud to have, and someone else posted this to you, you would be gone from here for another three months in a pout.

Congrats and enjoy the new tractor. Closest Ive come to buying new was with 50 hours. Still smelled new, I was grinning ear to ear. Enjoy it!

People said the same thing when tractors replaced mules, when diesels replaced gas, when the first powershift came out and every other evolutionary step.

Old. To quote your post; I worked on (one) (one) time, so does that make you an expert on Mahindra tractors?

Congratulations nice looking tractor I remember the first new tractor we got on the farm. Dad got it the year I graduated high school 1977 an A.C. 5040 I still have it rake and tedder hay. Don't put to much into what old says he is just a bitter old man who is just plain jealous of other people when they have something nicer then he has.

Congratulations
Never owned a new tractor so can not relate.
I do enjoy getting a new car or pickup though.

Mahindra is the number one selling compact tractor in the world.
Very good warranty and I have had a harder time finding parts for John Deere than the Mahindra's I have worked on.
Everyone I know that owns one loves them.

Never had a new tractor and probably never will. Dad bought a year old demonstrator 830 Case gas. Would pass everything but the refinery when he got it. Had to be weaned right away. 60 gallon a day was way to much consumption. Then he bought a new 574 diesel with loader on. A considerable amount of trouble with brakes not working on it. Used to drop the bucket for a brake. As for the Mahindera, don't know anything about them except what I've heard and not from computer experts. Parts were hard to get as the dealers came and went with the wind.

MSFARMALL enjoy your new tractor,I bought my first new tractor last year and I am older then you,I bought a new kubota with power steering and 4x4 ,you will love your new tractor .Don't listen to the so called experts on mihandra .

Mudcreek you hit the nail right on the head about old, just a bitter old man. Everybody is stupid except him.

Heck, I'm surprised that ALL of the responses weren't either how Mahindras are junk or ALL new tractors are junk.

My first new tractor was a little Mahindra eMax 22 with a loader, bought 6 years ago. Felt great to have something that was new and reliable, should have got something like it years earlier. On our little place it has been invaluable. Only issue has been dirt in some electrical connections causing it not to crank over. A half hour and a can of electrical cleaning spray cured that.

Also have an early 8N, a 9N and a Ferguson 30.
