Getting dry

Here it is the latter part of May and we're already getting rather on the dry side. Already had to start irrigating. Hard to believe it's become this dry after all the rain we had last fall and winter. Mother Nature must be taking classes on indecisiveness from my wife. Lol.

I'm located in Eastern N.C. We've had a few occasional showers to come through since the corn was planted, but probably haven't accumulated an inch total. Haven't had to irrigate especially this early in 3 yrs. Kinda forgotten how much aggravation is involved. Takes just about everything on the farm including the kitchen sink to get it done.

Dry here in central New Jersey. We set up irrigation today to get ready. Nevertheless, it's dryer now here than we've seen in 5+ years at this date with no appreciable rain in the forecast.

I been irrigating all this week here in Michigan, it's very dry. Local irrigation store is out of many supplies, not sure when they are going to get restocked.

That's going to be another thing that concerns me is the parts supply to irrigate. Everyone dosent carry this stuff here. Had to run this evening to get a gasket and they had it in stock but when it gets like this there is a run on the parts supply. Already bad enough in a normal supply routine. Been waiting on a tractor air filter for 3 months now. On back order.

Hang out in AZ for awhile and youll know the true meaning of dry. Soil is like talc powder. Enjoy your moisture.

Well ship some of your dry down here...please. I have a bumper winter hay crop more than ready to cut and bale and water is standing in the fields and no relief in sight. You watch....when mother nature turns off the tap it will be off...period. Happens frequently.

I wish she'd split the difference between what y'all have been getting and what we've received. There is no normalcy anymore with the rainfall it seems. Boom or bust.

soil in pictures looks like operator error caused the dryness, just saying that in our area, you wouldn't be farming long, even with irrigation with fields worked up like that!
