Hi everyone, I am having a problem getting my 74 4500 ford to go in gear, What I have read was its probably the clutch sticking. So I cranked it while it was in gear, and it drove, But it didn't fix the problem. Looking to you guys for any advice. Pretty sure the transmission is fine. Thanks

Is the clutch not releasing at all?

A stuck clutch is caused from sitting and the disc is rusted to the flywheel or pressure plate. The clutch pedal will feel normal, it just will not release. If there is any access, sometimes you can block the pedal down and reach in with scraper or knife blade and pop it loose. If the pressure plate bolts are accessible, remove them, back off the clutch adjustment, then pry the plate loose.

If there is excess pedal freeplay, or the clutch feels different, there is likely a mechanical problem.

If the clutch is dragging, but still tries to release, it may have a linkage adjustment problem. Have you checked the freeplay?

Update, Drained the transmission fluid, Had a lot of water in it, very little fluid, After a little playing around with it, the clutch seems to be working, Which is a relief, Didn't really want to put a bunch of money into the tractor.

How's the water getting in?
You need to be careful as tractor may not stop when you want it to... is there removable plate underneath ??
