Kub Klipper blades

So been fighting this Case VAC and it not starting. So ran the battery down so figured I'd do some mowing with the Cub. It was mowing just fine then all at once no more mowing. At first I figured the belt had jumped off but that wasn't it. Stopped and looked under it and both blades where gone. I walked around the area for 10-15 minutes trying to find the blades and found one. So now I guess I need to find new or good used blades for this mower.

Anybody know where one might find blades for it???
Thanks

Wow!! Sounds like you had a BAD day!!! That reminds me of the Hee Haw song, Gloom, Despair and Agony on me! Good luck finding some blades, I've never heard of that brand.

The mower deck is made by Sunflower Industries Inc Olathe KS. I tried to do a search for them but it comes up with every thing but that company

@0 or so years ago I lost a brush hog blade. I noticed it when the hog started to shake very badly. To this day I have yet to ever find that blade. Today when this happened there was just a cut then no cut no shake no vibration just no more cutting. Blades are only about a foot long with 2 bolt holes. I think part of why I lost them was they where already missing one of 2 mounting bolts but I didn't know they where mounted with 2 and thought they swung like brush hog blades do

I have a Kub Klipper on my cub also. My Arts Way dealer said that Arts Way bought Sunflower. I tried to get new blades for mine but was told none were available anymore.

That is not good. Guess maybe I'll have to try to make a pair. Not sure I can do so and have them hold up as well as factory but I am sure I can make ones that will work. If I could find the missing blade I could put them both back on but so far it has gone AWOL

Old..... Try using some leaf spring to make a new set. Must make them as nearly the exact same for best balance. Wingnut

Problem with leaf spring metal is they are hard to drill the 2 holes into that I would need to mount plus they are curved and I need flat metal. I do have a lot of old leaf springs laying around but don't have a good way to drill the holes or flatten them

dID YOU REMOVE THEM TO SHARPEN THEM BEFORE YOU PUT THE MOWER INTO SERVICE AFTER God knows how many years sitting idle.
Would the simple solution be to buy flat stock and get a local spring shop to shape and heat treat for you? Or make a set using the one you have? KISS. I'd have them shot peened if it were my outfit.

What is special about them other than the mount holes?

Can't you find a set the right length and drill the needed holes? Won't be easy to drill, but a slow drill press with a new masonry drill will chew through them.

Will do if it ever stops raining here. I may have to turn on a lot of lights in the shop to get the pictures. It is a Kub Klipper brand K-42 is the model number. What about those doglegs and grill??

Never heard of using a drill bit made to drill holes in rock/concreted being used on steel. May have to remember that when I try to drill holes in leaf springs

I've used leafs for several projects. I heat them to cherry red and flatten them while still red. The heat the area to drill, almost hot enough to cut, with the cutting torch and let it cool normally.

Once that's done, it should be ok to drill and sharpen. They can be rehardened, but I've created some that were too brittle for blades that way.
