Previously I posted a a growth on cedar trees. We did nothing. I think mother nature's freeze/frost may have killed it.

Branches don't appear to be damaged.
Our options were limited, Do nothing or cut the tree down after it died.
The growth was too high. Would required

I believe the spores were released and the galls go basically dormant. THe desease does not travel from cedar to cedar, only from apple type trees to cedar. There does not seem to be frost related kill off. It is a 2 year cycle, between the apple, and cedar. Your call, but apple and cedar will be reinfected over and over. One or the other must go. If apple tree hosts go away the cedars will be OK. and vice versa. Jim

That's the plan if they die.
One tree got to big next to a house. I
hacked 10 ft dump up to the tree. Cut the top
15 ft off. Tree landed perfectly where I
wanted it. Cut rest of tree up and put
it in dump trailer. Took less than 30
minutes start to finish.
Left about a 3 ft stump and terramite
popped the stump out with little
difficulty.

Years ago we had some apple trees and one cedar that were sharing back and forth with each other. The cedar was a good windbreak but the apple trees won out and the cedar tree went to the burn pile.

It's Cedar Apple Rust. As has been said and implied, - the apple and the cedar are the problem/host plants. Apple growers want to exterminate any cedar trees near their orchards. CAR is a serious quality-related problem in apple orchards. The two plants basically cannot co-exist.

Jim,
My options are simple, cut down the apple tree or cut down 6 cedar trees after they die.
Do you think the boss wants to cut down the apple tree? No
So that leaves only one option, cut down the cedar trees after they are dead.
