Old tractor prices

I did it again gave away two tractors. I put two very mechanically good tractors in a estate sale. Had 8000 in tractors
and got 3000. O well you can't it with you. The buyer of my MM BIG MO 500 found out why they call it BIG MO 500.Got
the tractor on a flat bed wrecker and the the wrecker could not pull the the bed and tractor back on the truck.

I had an old car. It was in good mechanical shape, just old. I traded it in on new car, only got $1000. That taught me a lesson. Next time, Instead of trading in old car, I gave it to someone. It feels better to give a car away instead of getting it put to you when trade it in or sell it for nothing.
I don't plan to sell my old tractors unless a friend needs one. My kids can sell them when I'm dead. Hope I don't roll over in my grave. LOL

Thats rough taking a hit on your value. I think of tractors, trucks and cars as declining value assets, and not as investments. Got to get your value out of them by using/playing with them. Any thing you get back out when you are done is a bonus.

Bruce How right you are. If you figure in the use I got out of tractors I'm way ahead. I also sold the wheat drill my dad bought new in 1941. Paid new 224 dollars I sold for 110 dollars 80 years old and still works. Think about it that means it depreciated 1.425 dollars per years. But the best part is my nephew bought it so it's still in the family.

I'm sure you're well aware that just because you have $8000 worth of parts in an old tractor, that does not make it worth $8000.

If you want the most money you have to be selective about where you sell. Throwing some tractors into an estate auction where there are no tractors or tractor related items, where tractors are not the main draw of the auction, where the tractors are a different brand from what you are selling, is a guarantee that you will get minimum value for yours.

Sorry your tractors did not do as well as hoped, if I had of been there the Big Mo would have brought more for sure as I have been looking for a good one for some time.

When I bought a new tractor in 1981, they knocked 12% right off the top because I didn't have a trade in.

I agree. You have to pick the right venue to sell something.

The flip side of that is, I once bought a handgun on an estate auction for a fraction of its book value. I think the auctioneer did throw in a couple of bids of his own. But, it was the only firearm on the auction and I might even have been the only bidder with a handgun permit.

Friend I helped save his old barn is thinking about buying one terramite. Don't really need to sell it but he's a friend.
Kubota has a loader. One terramite is the Kubota's roommate.

You would have liked this tractor. This tractor was fixed up to go to work. Engine and clutch rebuild about 1000 hrs.ago. alternator added, electronic ignition added, key start and shuttle shift. The tractor allways started till the buyer cam to pick it up. Some JERK pull the starter wire off during the sale

The sale was the estate of a well known MM collector and other MM tractors were there. I didn't think I would get all
my money back just more than I got. I think the market is just down
