got the 450 out this afternoon for some exercise. i seeded 10 acres in 1 1/2 hrs. while i watch my neighbours go around and around with there air seeders doing 1/4 section in an afternoon. but my old stuff dont require making payments. i am the only one here farming with old stuff and no cab on tractor. the serial # on this 450 is 1957 which is my serial # also, and we both have all our original parts . planting barley for more beer.

I have the same drill. Always pull sprocket wheel packer behind mine

And not too many dragging these old drills now. Most crop is planted with no till air drills, 20-30 wide. Hard to sell a old 510 drill nowadays. So many big rigs that you can hire in, few bother to do their own work.

this is the one I use. I built the wooden seed hopper extension on the top. Dad had the same model but narrower, and planted with a Super C. I used my Super C for a few acres, but gave up fighting the steering wheel, and planted the rest of the rye with my 656. Paid $25 at the auction for the drill, and now $35 for a square coupling to get the broken small seed shaft back in operation.

I love the old iron in their work clothes. Far more interesting than shiny restorations, for me anyways. Great photos from everyone who replied so far.
