This little booklet is from what is probably a JD dealer from Arborfield Manitoba. Trouble is I can not find a town called Arborfied in Manitoba, there is one in Saskatchewan. Anybody on here know of it??

I remember them from back in the day. Lots of interesting information. Remember as a kid reading and trying to make
sense of every page.

Have one from H.Lobay in LLB,AB from 56-57 that has my Dad's bushel count written in it in the memoranda pages. Dan

Have a yardstick from a long past hardware store in town that was given to me from the owner's son. Has Ph.2, when I asked who had Ph.1 he said it was the town cops number.

There were still a few privately own telephone
companies near me as of a few years ago. The
small companies from the past owned the rights to
a local geographic area, and sublet to the big
national company. Trouble was if I phoned my
friend that lived in that area, less than ten miles
away, it was a long distance charge phone call. And
every call they made outside their little phone
companies area was a long distance call for them.
Cell phones have finally put a end to this nonsense.

Maw Bell had our phone set up to where any calls inside your parish/county was a local call. Anything to next parish over was long distance.

Problem is I live in a remote subdivision right on the parish line so it was easier to hook us to the phone system in the next parish over.

It made all calls to my kids school and even the police and fire department a long distance call. This was before 911.

To solve the problem Bell offered us; for a extra fee a thing they called circle dialing that allowed us to call anybody within 40 miles in any direction and it be a local call.

John, County line was the limit for local service here. One area that overlapped two counties was excluded. We would go to girlfriend's house to make calls to three areas.

When I started farming, a older farmer
stopped by with a old pocket ledger and
gave it to me.He laughed and said I know
you were taught alot in school but this
will help.I kept it in the corner of my
barn breeders box until I pasted it on to
a younger farmer. It helped alot.

I think you are right CH and that thought had crossed my mind. I googled f.m. Bradshaw and there is a
Fred Bradshaw that is now a minister in the Saskatchewan Govt that was born in Arborfield Saskatchewan in the early 50's. Possible that his dad my have been the JD dealer at that time. Might just send him an email to check that angle out. Leon

I have a few . I have one from 1966 and then I have the newer
ones as well . The last one I have still has the information but
no equipment in it .
