52 8N starts right up and runs great in all speeds 40 psi startup
working 30+ no lower then 20 psi warm idle. No smoke at startup.
Working faint tailpipe smoke. After sitting at idle, throttle up and
blue smoke is very thick like an insect fogger and goes back to just a trace when I go back to idle It is using a good bit
of oil even seems to be liquid oil at the end of the tail pipe. No blow by none. Now a few days ago the needle and seat in carburetor gave up and when I remove the (updraft) carburetor gasket is soggy with oil and the inside of the intake manifold has a thin coating of oil. The oil bath breather has a full compliment of oil and with it disconnected still smokes so I know its not pulling oil from the bath.

Is it new to you? If not did it get progressively worse? what oil is in it? is it running on all cylinders? is there fuel in the oil? (over full) Just gotta know. Jim

I bet your breather cap (oil fill cap) is plugged, i.e. no blowby! Crankcase pressure would also force oil up past the valves into the intake!

Take it off and clean it. I have cleaned one by taking it apart, but may be able to put on/into the exhaust pipe and cook it clean.

Crankcase pressure would also force oil up past the rings. Take breather/oil fill cap off and run the engine, is there blowby then?

Oil going up exhaust guides would not go thru combustion chamber and would end up in exhaust pipe, unburned. Crankcase pressure would cause this too!

The oil fill pipe may be crudded up too. May have to clean it.

Let us know what you find!

RII it is not the breather oil as it was full and very clean. Removed cap no blowby. How would oil get in the intake manifold and carburetor.
