ok here is one for you, i want to know the correct installation for the third weight. wanted to have 3 weights per side. no problem mounting
2 weights the way they should be. first weight is bolted to the hub with the 4 bolts . then second weight is bolted to the first weight using
the 4 outside holes with 4 bolts. then comes to the third weight,.. oops no holes left.?? wth. i have the first 2 solid weights and the 3rd
outside is the split weight and no way to mount it. and no i dont want to use long ready rods through them all. or has ih only designed
these weights to use only 2 per side?
 
The manual for my 350 describes mounting a third set of weights but it uses only two bolts per weight. This wouldn't work if the third set is the split two-piece version, though. (The illustrations in the manual are of the solid weights with no mention of the two-piece version.) You might have to remove everything and start with the two-piece weights on the inside then use the solid weights for the second and third layer.
 
I remember having that problem years ago on my 706. Somehow I got a third and 4th. weight on but I can't remember what I did. I know I did not use ready rod. You know what they say, the mind is the 1st. to go and I can't remember what the second is.
 
You've NEVER seen an IH tractor with rear wheel weights sticking WAY outside the rim & tire?
I've got 3 single pc wheel weights on Dad's '51 M. Think the 1st weight uses 4 bolts, nuts & washers thru the wheel and the first weight. The second weight has 4 bolts around the outside of the first weight in bolt holes and into the second weight. The 3rd weight goes on 4 bolts hanging in slots next to the holes.

LONG FARMS on the RPM website have 5-6 weights/wheel on every FARMALL they have. He's posted detail pics of the nicely painted shiny red weights and the shiny CAD plated hardware all with the proper mounting positions.
 
I have got 6 weights on my M's with 14.9 tires, on the outside, but we've got Mac's hardware up here with 15 or 16 inch x 3/4 bolts, so that's what i used! There even with the edge of the tire, except on the loader M,i got 4 on the outside and 1 on the inside, ran out of room with the F-11 loader rams on the outside of the wheel, [and 12x38's] But on the other M's i figure i m short about a 150 Lbs, versus the fluid and 1 weight!But i got the fluid out once and for all !
 
think i will just need to get some 8 x 3/4 bolts and bolt the first 2 weights on together . the bolt the third one on using the out side holes. its just that hanging 2 145 lb weights at once is not easy. i am just a one man band.
 
So you cant get a neighbor or a friend to help you for 5 minutes, it pretty easy with two people, there are hand hold built into the weight,brace your self off the tires lugs with one hand, and lift with the other, and on they go!
 
But u have to lift 2 weights at the same time to get the bolts in. I have been using my little engine crane. I have had them on and off already but you cant just keep bolting them on one at a time. As you run out of holes once the second one is on. I might make a small plate and weld it to both weights then lift 2 at the same time.
 
Hang the splits on the inside with the same bolts that hold the first outside one than you have the bolts to put on the 2 outside. I have 3 sets of splits on the inside of my 806 with 2 sets on the outside. I did use threaded rod for them and went all the way through for all five. I did turn the splits so they would not all be on the same 2 bolts. By turning the first one is a quarter turn off from the second and then the 3rd is back like the first. I was concerned about the 2 bolts holding 3 piesces with no cross support. the outsides are full rounds.
 
Well i never have put two on at a time,two people one weight, with a long bolts, one at a time in the center part of the weight, just keep tapping in the bolts,the wheel weight is not going to slide off, i don't use the outer bolt ring, i don't need it!
