Corn planter modifications?

Im curious what you have done to modify your corn (bean, cotton, etc) planter to better suit you? For instance my JD 1760 ME plus (vacuum) has been changed from JD seed disks to Precision Planting vSets, bullseye seed tubes and Keeton seed firmers. I have Yetter residue wheels, AgLeader row clutches and AgLeader Integra as my monitor. This year I changed from standard rubber closing wheels to Kinze spiked closing wheels. So far I dont have a down pressure system or auto-steer although sometimes I use the Integra light bar.

I'll second the fact about the 800 and newer cyclo planters. keep the factory parts in good shape and it's out plant anything.

My old JD #71 pate type 'unit planter' has furrow openers on a bar behind the units for cleaning water furrows. And a duck foot in front of the disk openers to clean/wipe out weeds in the row.I prebed/mark my fields,so row markers(scribes) are needed. Also a liquid starter fertilizer tube between the disks.

I do not know if you are aware of New AgTalk but for this kind of topic you will get a lot more replies over there. A lot of current farmers on there and the traffic is far greater than here. They even have a dedicated ..precision.. topic section, but often subjects similar to yours come up in the ..Machinery.. section there. And you can post any punctuation you want from your phone and they have a function to edit your post if you make a mistake or want to add to your post. See link.
