Its finally dry enough in east central Mississippi to get garden

Your soil looks much more red than I'm used to. Is it fertile and things grow well in it?

Black as dir,, I mean red as dirt.

It is actually light brown and right beside a creek which occasionally overflows so it it somewhat sandy. As for growing things; yes, it is quite fertile and I usually make a good crop of pinkeye purple hull peas, okra, squash, cucumbers and watermelons.
