Best implement - outdoor paint

Ok, so I need to paint several pieces of equipment and parts of my working tractor that will sit outside. In the past I have used Rustoleum, and have been fairly happy with the results although the paint does fade after awhile. I do not want to use car paint (or other paints with the hardener in it), and prefer to use brush on paint. I have heard of many different products, such as Valspar (don't know where to get it), Majic (TSC), Rustoleum, and Gillespe coatings (Texas). What are your thoughts? What works best and where do you get it?

Farm implement paint from Ace hardware. Very durable and inexpensive. Good, thick paint, brushes on a nice finish.

Iron Guard paint from a Case/International dealership holds up pretty well for me on my tractor restorations, and is about $70/gallon. There is no cheap paint that holds up well (cosmetic shine) over time. Ya get what you pay for. Surface prep prior to paint is a key step to durability too.

I've had very good luck with their farm and implement paint. I painted a Kubota tractor in 2009 and you can't tell it's faded until you see where the hood overlaps the dash. There isn't as much fading with that paint as another tractor I painted the same year with Dupont Nason, an automotive urethane.

If you don't want automotive or hardener then your paint is going to fade and deteriorate so what you want is the cheapest you can get.

Unless you want it for a show display or whatever similar reason, just leave it as is. It'll outlast you and your kids.

I got implement paint from Rural King along with thinner and hardner.
Had some old leftover paint I painted plow.

I used gloss black rustoleum to paint dumpt

dump trailer.

I thin it a little with mineral spirits to get a smoother and glossy finish.

Agree 100%

I shoot PPG Concept when I'm restoring tractors. Amazing results. BUT....they are mighty proud of there product. Quart of paint was $91; quart of hardener was $31. I also shoot PPG Epoxy Primer which was $44 a quart and the catalyst at $42 a quart. On top of the primer and the paint, I also apply 2 coats of PPG clear coat.

Those are 2009 prices so no telling what they are today.
