41 Farmall H oil pump pressure relief spring

The oil pump pressure relief spring is partially out of spec.
My spring measures 3.408, the correct should be 3.765, will a
collapsed spring increase oil pressure or decrease?

If oil pump and engine is in good shape the longer spring will increase pressure if spring diameter and how wound is the same spec for both. If bypass is already closed due to poor condition parts it won't change anything when hot.

You could shim the original to about 3.700 free length and use it. The coils will be a bit closer together than originally designed which should make the spring rate go up a tiny bit. Jim
