My garden is ready other then the deep freeze I will have tonight. Temps down to or around 24 degrees if the national weather service is right. I hope my lettuce and broccoli etc. can make it

Looks real nice, and you don't have to waste time hooking and unhooking different implements with that line up. Got our garden area disced up last weekend, but won't plant anything here in Michigan for a few more weeks.

Grandpa,

Do you plant indian corn to sell for ornamental/decorative purposes or for eating?

If for eating, do you grind it for cornmeal and/or grits? Love grits!

Do you ever pop it? I read that it can be popped and eaten.

Are you planting corn on top of the beds? If I send you corn seed that could technically be Indian corn seed

Grandpa Love ,

I know that you have spoken of where you live in Alabama before , but how far are you from Alexandria City ? I work with a guy from there
here in south central Kentucky who is getting ready to move back down there . Thursday is actually his last day with us at work . Just
curious . Judging from your pictures Alabama looks to be a lovely state ! Wish that I lived there sometimes during the winter where it's
usually a little warmer !

Thank you ,

Sweetfeet, last year we grew a couple short rows for decoration use in our church display. Everyone that we sold square bales of hay to for decoration wanted to buy my corn stalks. So this year I'm gonna plant most of the garden in Indian corn, sell the stalks and bunches of the ears! Wife says we will plant pumpkins too. If they don't do good we will get a pallet of them from a farmers market.

Very nice!! But makes me sad,,,lol.,,,I dont do any more plowing with tractor,,those days are over for me

I did work up one field, I Use to use three pt implements with the a FORD,,but the wooden handled implements are two pt now,,,,

Get an earth way if you do those Chapin are garbage . I can plant faster with a hoe that thing cant go faster than a real slow walk or it plugs. The earth way will plant as fast as you can walk

OK... 'cuz I was thinking that indian corn would make some badly colored grits. The mix of colors might turn our grey or brown.

Just for fun... I do want to buy some this fall and try popping.

Got one of mine ready. The rectangular part at the far end of this
picture is 30 x 50. The "approach" part with the weeds still in it is
just to keep the weeds down for access. The other garden needs to
be done yet, it's 40 x 60 but has later crops planted in it.
I'm in Michigan, so it will be a bit before we get things going.

Mines been ready too for a while but its been cold and still a week early for me. I did put in one row of potatoes this morning but the temp is down in the 30s here this evening and supposed to go well below freezing overnight. Might snow too. I'll have a few early ones but the rest will likely go in the ground late May.
