case 770 dual pto?

An older land lord has an old 770 that he might get rid of some time. I always thought that it would make a good tractor to sit on the feed grinder or do other odd jobs but i was wondering if all 770s came with dual pto. My grinder is on 1000, but my hay equipment is mostly on 540. Also are there any problems that are common with these tractors? I dont know a lot about case tractors, but i have ran one. My grandpa has an old 1370 that we use once in a blue moon...I know they are simple good old tractors...It's not the prettiest tractor in the world but it seems to run fine. I am wondering what the thing is worth, I am unsure of hours.

Not all 70 series had dual pto but most did. Look at the shaft, if there is a snap ring with tabs sticking out so you can get a pliers in it it has dual pto. Just pull that snap ring and turn the shaft around. Great little tractors. If it's powershift make sure it pulls good in all the gears. And pull the drain plug on the engine sitting cold and look for antifreeze. The o-rings on the sleeves can leak when they get old. More info on it would be nice, diesel or gas, power shift or 8spd? The 870 is one of the most sought after of the case tractors and is only different from the 770 in engine size. The 770 is about 60hp.

Looks like dual pto was an option. So it may or may not have it.

Are these like the later Case 3-speed powershifts that if you left it in reverse while doing PTO work, you'd ruin the powershift?

Hopefully it's an 8-speed so you avoid that potential disaster.

I have only seen one single speed pto in any of the 70 Series that offered dual speed,, never have seen a 770/870 with anything but dual speed,, as for power shift,, no reason to fear one at all,, if you cant hear the reverse sound when they are in it after letting off the clutch its 100% operator error. I have tens of thousands of hours on many 70 series here on my farm,, and have repaired plenty of them others tear up again 100% due to operator error,, number one cause of failure on them is throwing away the filter relief cartridges,, next in line is never changing filters and feeding the same tiny particles through the system then sticking a pilot spool,, again if you cant feel this right off you have no biz operating equipment as its in two gears at once,, then you have the ones who come rolling in at full speed roading them and stomp on the inching pedal and make them shift three speeds all at once,, yes that will in time take out parts,, kinda like slamming a automatic in to low gear when doing 50 mph and having a 10K trailer pushing you at the time,, or running a hyd orbit motor with a 4020 powershift and not kicking the little lever on the power shift out and you do 10-15K damage in 20 min,, seen that done way to many times here,, again not the 4020's fault they did not bother to read the ops manual and follow correct operating procedure,, same with the RPS transmission

That only happens with pto on and sitting for long periods like
on a silage blower or manure pump. And there are plain
warnings several places to remind you.

Thanks all for the info! I'll have to look for a snap ring next time I'm up there. It is a diesel. It's been several years since the last time I was on it to move it out of the way, but I think it has the three speed power shift on it. However it does have a parking brake instead of a park gear if I am remembering right...which is different than my grandpa's 1370. Is that just the difference in age? This 770 has the old desert sunset yellow and the 13 is white, so i know that the 13 is a later model.
