Antique Tractor Market

From the prices the tractors bought at the Aumann/Keystone auction last night appears the market for old tractors is alive and well especially considering the condition of some of the tractors. On the same note saw an Oliver Super 66 in fairly rough condition sold at an auction last Saturday for $1700.

There was a consignment sale here Saturday. I was planning on going, but we needed to get the plastic on the new greenhouse more than I needed to go stand at that sale. It was dead calm that morning and I didn't want to waste the opportunity.

Anyway, the way I found out about the sale, because the advertising was pretty sparse, a guy stopped and asked me if I wanted to buy an Oliver 880 gas. I managed not to laugh right out loud when he told me he wanted $3250 for it. I was sure smiling hard and shaking my head. He said he was going to take it to that sale. When I finally found it online, there was a picture of it. He already had it consigned when he stopped here. I'd like to know what that brought. I've got a strong suspicion he took it back home if he thought he'd get anywhere near that. I did see that there was an Oliver 60 on the sale too. It was pretty rough. That one might have come home with me if I'd have gone, so probably a good thing there was no wind and I stayed home.

I just sold my Ford 9000. I priced it where I could bargain down a little but I had five offers of full price in three days.

There's an 880 diesel for sale in Lapeer with new clutch and starter, no PS no 3point does not appear to have power booster, $4500. 770 gas over on the east side for $3550. Restored 770 asking $6500. So I would say his 'asking' price was not way out of line for what they are asking. I'd love to have an 880 with all the toys, gas would be fine as I use it few enough hours a year, but those prices seem a little steep to cheap old me.

then again, the 1750 in Imlay is down to $10k... and the 1270 with loader is $8500, and is half the tractor of your ex-red one.

There was an 880 diesel wide front on the sale in Trufant two years ago. A guy in our club bought it for $1400. He drove it on a few tractor drives that summer. There was a gas marrow front over there a few years before, real nice, brought $1800.

Before the guy left here the other night, he admitted to me that he gave $2000 for it and wanted to at least make a little bit on it.

We bought 6-7 Farmall cubs over the winter, non runners, all under $600. After repairs we more than doubled our money on them. Now there ain't a cub in driving distance for under $1500.....

Do you keep a journal with serial numbers so you can see if you end up buying one back in the future?

Did u see the ads, there is a 1855, Diesel that dropped a Valve, with 9500 hundred hours, we wants 3.500 for that, that makes that 880 a steal !!!

I thought these two tractors fetched roughly twice what I would have expected. Maybe a bit more.
