What do you guys charge by the hour ? I normally do by the acre but On thee smaller jobs Id like to go by the hour

I have been just bidding the job most of the time. I'm thinking a 100 per hour when doing so with a 100 dollar minimum. Bigger easier jobs for a good customer a little less. Most of my customers are not farmers. I do pull a hayride wagon. his wagon, for a Christmas tree U cut farmer 4 weekends in Dec. for 50 bucks an hour and he buys my fuel and feeds me good.

May as well get share and get it spent while the dollar bill is still worth more the the peso. One flue scamdemic and the Mexicans will be building a wall to keep the Americans out

I like working for the small farmers the best they usually have money and are willing to pay . The big farmers are harder to get paid from

Topic has come up here quite a few times. Most states that have land-grant universities / agricultural extension operations will publish a book of custom rates for many farm custom tasks (i.e. chisel plowing, combining soybeans, baling hay, etc etc). If your state does not do this look up the one for a neighboring state, you'll get close and now know enough to be dangerous.

I'm using my 50 hp tractor and loader to move manure from one pile to another for a horse stable. Charging them 75.00/hr

If someone asks what I charge, It's between 110, and 130. an hr. When someone says just do it without asking what I charge by the hour. I use those prices. A lot of people want a price up front. That is when I make out a lot better. I use my JD 401B and a 71/2 ft. flail mower. Sometimes in rough ground I use my MF 231 with a 6 ft rotary, and charge the same. I don't charge driving time. It's all fun. Stan

There are a whole lot of different implements and tools of different sizes and costs that call for different rates. I used to put up hay for a stable. I charged by the bale put in the barn. They had spent a lot of money to upgrade the fields and all was well for a few years until they stopped liming and fertilizing which was their responsibility. I finally switched over to an a hourly charge for the different parts of the job. Mowing and baling were, I believe at $70.00/hour while raking and tedding were at $50.00/hr. This was a few years ago.
