IH 444 (Louisville) vs MF 135

How do these two tractors compare? IH 444 (Louisville built 1968-1971) and a Massey Ferguson 135 of the same era? Both diesel tractors.

Thanks!
Bill

I would say the MF 135 is a bit more user friendly, and in my opinion a bit tougher tractor than the IH. Both are good machines, but the 3 cylinder Perkins is hard to beat by any measure.

Assuming the 444 is similar to my 2424....the IH is a bit more tractor. Hydrostatic power steerting and probably weights 1000 pounds more. And maybe bigger tires - I have 14.9's on my tractor. We had a TO-35 when I was in college and my 2424 works much better in the woods than the older 35.
But the 135 is a real nice machine. If you are actually choosing between two units, overall condition and tire condition are probably most important. I would be very happy to have either one of them.

When I sold IH tractors in the 1970s I took a lot of MF135 tractors in part exchange
but the MF dealer did not take any IH 444 tactors in for new MF135s MJ.
