Yesterday I attended the Clifford Diehm Estate Sale held southwest of Osawatomie,KS..It was a 90 mile drive up there...It rained off and on going up but wasnt raining
when I got up there....Here at home we had 1.25 of rain which isn't going to be good on the corn that has just been planted..After I got the pictures taken it started
raining and rained lightly until noon..Fortunately they had sheds to sell most of the small items in...The temp was in the low 50's..There was a big crowd and things sold
good.

The 1969 G-900 MM diesel with 3800 hours sold for $6,100...It had brand new 18.4x38 Firestone rear tires...It started easily and ran great...All Mr Diehm had used it
on was a 15 ft bush hog...I found the missing right side battery panel hanging in a shed and told the auctioneer...It got taken out to the tractor..It had a loader that went
with it but it hadn't been put on..Between 1969-1985 I spent many an hour on two different G-900 MM's that Dad and I owned...They were good tractors..

had a twin to this tractor..The same buyer ended up with both M-5's..

Red school house in southern Miami County Kansas...It looked like it was lived in at one time..

Great pics!

A lot of one room school houses ended up as homes around here (usually added onto). Others are still used as township halls. We voted in one, up until last year...
Due to the virus, they moved the voting out into the large machine shed that holds the township grader/snow plow.

Thanks for the post/pictures. I always enjoy auction reports. Most things brought pretty good money, except for the LP tractors , hope they went to a good home. I also enjoyed the schoolhouse pictures. There was a school house right next to my house but it was torn down shortly before I was born. There are a few of the old schoolhouses from my area that have been converted into homes, most of them have been enlarged and dont look like a school house any more. A couple interesting ones are an octagon shaped school house and a stone schoolhouse. The stone schoolhouse has had a lot of additions and modifications oveer the last 10-20 years to the point it is unrecognizable.Fortunately it is pictured in a local history book in its former state.

Most interesting pictures. Thanks for posting. While I like all the pics...... The 4x4 truck pics make me drool. Especially the early model Ford 3/4 ton white pick-up. Now where in the South can we buy at those prices. All of the truck pics were super bargain sell prices.....compared to Tx anyway. Thanks again.... What a great treat. Wingnut

1206, always a nice posting job and I enjoy looking and reading. I attended country schools in ND 1-8 grades. I think they are long gone. It would be fun to be your buddy and ride along although this is certainly next best. Thanks

We've only been to a couple of sales in the past decade. Those prices are high compared to what we remember. Of course, the MM tractors would be more than welcomed here. Am sure the wife would like the 2000 Chevy (OK, OK...me too), but I'd like that flatbed Ford with plow.

My first truck was a '76 F-150, but 2WD. 4WD would be better up here in winter, but think I'd save that kind of truck from the threats of salt cancer and use it only in winter, so would likely pass on that one.

Thanks for the sales report and pics!!

Thank you for taking the time to post photos and prices. I love that country up around there - prolly should have found a patch there to retire on. I appreciate the pictures.

I see where you were is not that far from Paola. When I was in grade school (North Dakota) a family came from Paola and rented the farm next to my parents' farm. The wife was originally from our area of ND and wanted to move back. Husband was a Kansas native.

The 2020 looks like it could be the perfect set up for a loader tractor.
In the picture you can see:
engine side frames ( required for a #48 loader);
straight front axle (recommended for loader work);
oversize front tires;
wide rear tires (hold more fluid ballast);
worn/discolored paint where a #48 loader mounts;

I can't tell from the picture, but it probably also has:
the big hydraulic pump (4020 pump);
heavy cast rear wheels (only available with rack and pinion axles);
power steering was standard equipment on the later 2020s.

There are not many 50 year old tractors left with those options, extremely low hours and not beat up. If two or more guys knew what they were looking at and wanted it, I can see it going for close to $9K. Probably sold new for around $6K.

I was more surprised by the 21 year old, 100,000 mile pickup bringing almost $13K. That may have been a similar case of desirable options, low usage and good condition.

Thank you for your great auction posts!!!

Everyone,thanks for the comments...After they closed in the mid 1950's lots of the one room schools in my area got used for churches,4H clubs,community centers,plus homes....Sadly,now most are sitting unused and are deteriorating...Below is the old Sylvan Dale school about 7 miles west from me that for years was used as a Baptist church...I knew lots of the families that attended the church...Attendance dropped and it hasn't been used in quite a few years...This is a 2012 picture and its going down hill fast..

One of my old tractor pulling friends lives in Paola,KS and was at the sale...Hes 86 years young and still pulls antiques..He also collects antique tractors...I once purchased a 25-40 Allis from him...Back in the 1980's he pulled a national level Massey 55 Mod with a V-12 Allison...Here he is at the Indy Super Pull in Indiana about 37-38 years ago..Gene built that tractor for $7,000 in the late 1970's..A V-12 Allison alone now sells for 15-20K if you can find one..Gene was distantly related to the late 82 year old owner of the sale items....

Going school hunting with me would be fun if you enjoy long days with few stops...I usually cover lots of territory using my DeLorme Gazetter for the state I'm in..All roads are shown and I have the original locations for all the old schools marked in it...I also take pictures of old houses, barns,bridges,tractors,vehicles,etc..Tomorrow I'm headed back to Polk County MO for a picture taking trip..A week ago Saturday a picture taking trip there got cut short because the right front brake caliper on my 1991 Ford Ranger went to sticking on almost locking the brake up...I made it home and put a new one on and it worked great on Saturday..

It looks like the former owner must have moved big bales with it because of all the front end slab weights..Several of us that attend lots of sales guessed it at $5,000 but it quickly blew by that price...You made lots of points why it sold so good..It had only been used a little over 40 hours a year...The former owner said that his wife used it to pull their 6 ft bush hog.
