Shanghai. I was watching an online auction yes terday. The auctioneer would say Sold! Going to Minnesota or Iowa, or whatever state the online bidder was from. Well, he was selling a capello corn head, and when he said sold, he said going to the other side of the world. I looked, and in the notes, it said Shanghai! $16,000 with head cart.

I wonder what they are gonna do with it over there. They must grow corn.

There is corn grown in China. Their poor crop last year is some of the reason behind imports this year, and higher prices here.

I'm guessing Shanghai is likely the port and not the final destination.

China grows as much if not more corn than rice over the past few years.
And rice is a very big crop in China.
They use the corn to feed their ever increasing hog herd.
This feeds their population that is switching to a urban type population.

Another big import for China is cotton machinery.
There is a local place here that loads cotton machines in containers and sends it over there.

The bidder was probably buying it for an operation they have in the US. China owns vast tracts of land in the US. Smithfield Foods which owns slaughterhouses, hog farms
and farm land (vertical integration) is owned by the Chinese.

Just last week we went out for some Chinese food and the menu said ..... SPECIAL THIS WEEK .... CHICKEN FRIED CORN. Now I know what's been happening.

Sold my 479 NH haybine A few weeks ago and a Gehl mixall, had been given to me a few years back, to Mennonites. They said it was going to Bolivia.
