An old friend passed away and his shop has a lot of Farmall starters and generators no idea if good or bad what are they worth.$

Well just don't let the scrap man get them, somebody some day will want them, a friend of mine quit the business, and he gave me a a brand new M@W reduction starter !!! What i wouldt gave for it years ago when my dad first put the power craters in his M !

My opinion all Farmall starters and generator can be saved ,no matter , not even looking at them they my look terrible on outside but be perfect ly fine to redo . Simple electromechanical devices , with a few tests and low budget parts they will work fine.

I certainly agree about saving them. Last two starters I bought from web sites like this one were made in China and both lasted to about one day after the warranty expired. I've been thinking about rebuilding some generators I have that don't work and there are plenty of parts to rebuild delco starters and generators. You may have to do it yourself as not many guys in that business anymore but sometimes you got to what you got do to make things work.

If they are complete junk the salvage yard here pays 15 cents a pound for electric motors starters and generators

If they are junk just scrap them. They have little if any value except as cores, and some of the savage yards near me do not even want cores any longer. Cheap and easy to buy new and not fuss with the old junk.

If there are any starter/alternator repair shops in your area, I would call them. I'm certain somebody will give you more than scrap price for them.
