They have been getting fields ready to

plant. Put down anhydrous ammonia and
disked. This may be the last thing they
need to do before planting.

In my part of northwest Iowa a few of the early bird BTO's are working stalks but nothing is being planted that I know of. Today the wheat and oats will be going in the ground at the Albert City Threshing Show so they should have a good stand getting it in this early.

We have a short window here, dried off enough to work in the drier fields a couple days ago, but way too early for row crops, insurance date is April 11th and its rare we can go that early.

Did get some small grain in, but not many plant that here any more.

Not much happening here yet. Going to try and put in some forage barley tomorrow. Usually put in some oats for hay have quite a bit of carryover so will try some barley and see how that works.

Quite dry for early April in eastern OH and if one were so inclined to commit fiscal suicide they could plant corn and beans tomorrow----since it would about a month too early. Hope we get our fair share of April showers.

(quoted from post at 11:30:17 04/05/21) The old timers used to say, Plant in the dust, your bins will bust.
........and dust in oats & mud in wheat!

After getting 7 inches of rain in the middle of March we have had practically no rain for the past 3 weeks..Theres about a 50% chance of rain on Wednesday and 1/2 inch would be OK..I'd say that half of the corn around here is planted and the rest will be in the ground in the next few days..One friend hired his corn planted and they used two 24 row planters to get it done quickly..

I started making dust yesterday evening. Today I am putting down fertilizer and hope to have tge planter rolling Wednesday.

This is on clay ground, sand is wet still

With 5 dollar corn and 14 dollar beans plus Govt subsidies should be
close to a record breaking year...of course nothing could beat last year with
29 Billion in nnalert Subsidies.

We are forecast to get 3-4 days of rain starting tonight and amounting to several inches. That would be a blessing for many of you, I was just drying out and my soggy glacial lake bottom ground doesnt dry out well in spring, so this is kind of a crappy forecast for me.will delay me for weeks, not days. Id prefer dry spring and a wetter August.

One of the BTO's in WC Iowa is running a planter on corn and one on soybeans, wants to be finished by 4-30.

The new is so generous he will forgive your usfa loan and give you an extra 20% if you meet tge criteria.

Fertilizer is supposed to come tomorrow, fields are dry. Lots of PPP money out there, and businesses are taking it too....

NPK prices are rising weekly. It's going to cost me over $300.00 per acre just for fertilizer this year if I follow the Nutrien Ag. Consultant advice.

This is in SW Missouri and its time to roll...Several started last Wednesday....Some years we plant the last week of March if the weather allows us..

Good question. I guess it's like the queenies grandkids! To bad you guys up north got stuck with the whining one.

I believe he is now hunkering down south of the 49th is he not? The security cost was sending us into bankruptcy, the US has more money and it's just a drop in the bucket down there. Oh well, it is what it is I guess.

That is the truth. I think the frost free date here is like May 16th or so. Nobody planting here, may be some guys plowing though with the lack of rain (and snow).
