WC to WD45 starter

Just put a WC engine bolted up to a WD45 clutch housing. Didn't take any parts out or put any parts in. my problem? Starter doesn't reach ring gear. Anyone got any suggestions?

You use your wd45 fly wheel? You measure
any. I have put a wd45 starter on a wc
styled. Had to take apart starter and turn
it, to make it work. You sure you have
gear towards flywheel?

I left flywheel/clutch etc. on the WC engine as it was in better shape and just put it in the tractor as everything I had read said they were the same except for displacement. Bendix teeth barely touch ring gear teeth. Starter seems to work fine just doesn't reach.

Obvious solution ??

Had to take apart starter and turn
it, to make it work.

That was my experience as well.
