Driving to Keystone

I'll draw out this Keystone visit as long as I can. Here are some pics on old Route One, which parallels I-95 much of the way. You'll find old motels, remnants of past businesses, abandoned houses and other interesting stuff.

Here are some pics.

This was one of the more interesting abandoned places. I wonder about its original purpose. All block construction, built tall on a lot with plenty of room, and an exterior door upstairs. Strange old building.

Trucks outside an antiques/junk dealer. Lots of signs and Americana. No one around

I see my photos are all pretty much the same 3/4 angle. I'll have to see if I can switch things up a bit when I take the pics. This connection is very slow, will have to get back with more photos later.

It's kinda like US 41,run from northern Wisc, thru Chicago, thru many states and was the old I-75 thru Florida, i have taken that, for a couple of hundred miles to just see what it looked like, years ago. It's interesting but you wont make any time,LOL!

Gerrit,

Great pics! I am enjoying these immensely.

I could ride around the country endlessly. After the big trip with Sis a couple years ago... I just
wanted to become a vagabond. I cried when we got close to MN again... didn't want the trip to end. LOL

I'm pretty sure I was on that road, runs through Terre Haute if I'm not wrong. Lots of old iron, abandoned places. If it's the same road, I stopped at a place that was a drive-in theater but it was someone's home now. Guy offered me one of the old speakers that you put on your car window to hear the movie. Shoulda taken it but I was on my motorcycle, no room for extra luggage :-(

Glad you enjoy. These old places speak to me, get me wondering about the past lives, the stories that played out there. I like those old motels with the little cottages, I guess the thinking was you could have better privacy if you planned on a, uhmmm, "wild" night hahahaha!

Route 20 through MA and past the ACG's place in NY is that way. You can just imagine all the shuttered businesses with fifties architecture and signage being busy with all the tourist traffic that used to be on that road.

I'll try to add a few more pics. Uploading time is around 5 minutes per photo, not sure what the problem is.

Here's trying.

I like this style Chevy. My old pickups were all Fords but I think this style is cool. Parked outside a house, may or may not be occupied. Hard to tell.

Vacant mobile home with old Ford. The unusual thing about this house is that it was split up into two tiny apartments. Hope the rent was really cheap. Nice, quiet area, well removed from the main road. Not a bad place to call home.
