Need to remove the steering wheel from an 856 to replace the seals in the power steering unit. Are the threaded holes in the steering wheel fine thread? Thanks

I think so. But grab a bolt and try it.

I think they are 1/4-28 fine thread.

Yep like said below 1/4 x28 , BUT you will need a BOTTOMING TAP to clean the threads , a steering wheel puller and LONG 1/4 bolts ( i use 6 and 1/2 inch long grade 8's ) Only because they last me longer then the grade fives . Get the puller pulled up tight and give a shap wack with a hammer and it will pop off . Once off remove the snap ring and place the wheel back over the splines and give a sharp hard twist direction does not matter and the seal cartridge will pop out .

Only addition I would make is have the nut on the shaft before hitting to remove to protect the threads. I have always had to pull them completely off with the bolts in them.
