(quoted from post at 15:23:34 03/22/21) I've never seen one put on a stand crossways, before.

That's not uncommon with larger engines. I have an OTC stand like the one in the first photo.

Ive worked on 4 different ones in the last year or two. Two regular overhauls, one was a block swap due to a cracked 53. And two a little more exotic pulling engines. One was a 5.9 with a 6.7 crank and the other is a 6.7 with an even larger stroked crank and a 12 valve head with a mechanical injection pump.

The only way to do it then you can do the rear main and flywheel all at once without taking it off the stand .

Now you just need to spin the engine around a few times for the naysayers who didn't think it would be strong enough.

Cranks are the same, manual/auto/tractor/generator/etc....

The 98 to 2000 24 valve cranks have a feature for a two piece bolt on tone ring. The pre 98 and 2001 on Dont have it.
Make sure you locktite those little fasteners, I had one loosen up catch the block and detonated into little pieces.

98 to 2000 had a crank sensor and a cam sensor that oddly enough did nothing because theres no tone ring on the back of the early cam gears. Unless it only read the single notch in the gear.
2001-2002 the cam gear has a bolt on tone ring.
