NAA thermostat inquiry

Hello,

Ordered a thermostat for my NAA and was installing it and noticed the old and new ones are different. The old one I have seen in a Youtube video. The new one I have seen here (were I ordered it from) and other vendors. Will this new one work? If not, does anyone have a cross reference number for the old one? The picture on the left is the old one from that video the one on the right is what came from YT.

Yes, if it is the same diameter, it will work.

Thermostats generate the build a better mousetrap mentality among designers. There have been many designs tried over the years.

But if I'm seeing the picture correctly, the one on the left appears to be installed backward. The sensing bulb goes in the head, not in the housing.

Not sure which thermostat you ordered. The OEM (based on 1950's technology) called for a 160F thermostat, which was that low so the alcohol based antifreeze didn't evaporate away. Todays green antifreeze likes warmer water, and so does your engine. I have a 190F thermostat (brought the housing to NAPA and they matched one). Tractor's been happy ever since.
