9 quarts including filter. You should order an owner's manual. That fact and many others will be covered in it. Order from binder books, jensales, you're IH dealer, eBay. About 40 bucks.

A 450 has a dipstick. I'd start with 8 quarts and adjust to the FULL mark on stick.

I've read where Jensales boooks are not the good of a quality not clear and kind of poor reprints never saw one just what the discussion was here several years ago about books and Binder was one of the better ones at that time according to the discussion.
