D O T LETTER

Every other month I rec. a letter from the DOT Compliance Group out of Irving, Texas stating my Biennial /MCS-150 Update is past due and that I can be fined up to 1000.00per day not to exceed 10,000.00 and possible deactivation of my DOT number.
This is for an old Paystar 5000 dump truck that I use just for my personal use. Do not hire out ever. Was forced to get a DOT number years ago because I used the truck to haul a few loads of gravel to my rental properties and as I made money off the rental properties that made my truck commercial.
Any of you folks rec. this letter???? What should I DO ABOUT IT????

I JUST USE THE TRUCK ON MY PERSONAL PROPERTIES AND NOW RUN A FARM PLATE....

Have your office people go online and update it every other year. They want to know # of trucks, etc. Easy. bill

Send them a registered letter stating that you no longer use the truck commercially and that you now have it plated as a farm truck for your own use.

The letter is from a private company trying to sell you a service. You can ignore it the same as any other junk mail.

Whether you need have current DOT is another issue, but that's between you and the government. You don't need this company to fill out the paperwork for you.

You can go to the FMCSA website and check/update it yourself. I had to get a DOT number for my grain/dump truck after 9/11. It has a NY Agricultural plate, which means I can go anywhere and haul most anything, BUT only for myself- no for hire. I get the same junk e-mails. I go right to FMCSA and have kept it updated, but I don't know if it's really necessary.

As long as you stay on your property I would ignore it. Texas government is totally screwed up. The Texas workforce commission has been sending me a bill for twenty bucks for unemployment taxes for a period I had no employees. I've gotten a bill every February for the last 19 years.

I get the same letter . I called its 150$ or something to have them deactivate the number . I havent gotten around to spending 150$ to deactivate it

If you are just using it for farm use with no commercial forget about it. I get them all the time from some scammer. IF you are not getting it from the state it is plated in on the official website ignore it.

Just throw it away. I get the same thing here in Mn. for my farm corporation. They will renew it for $250 private company or I can direct renew it with state for $17

CAN I get rid of the DOT number and paperwork as I just use this dump truck for my personal use???? If I can get rid of the DOT number and paperwork--how would that be done??????

Just go on their page and tell them that you want to cancel your number.

No, you cant deactivate online or by phone. To close your USDOT number record you MUST mail, fax or upload via our web form an updated and signed MCS-150 (Motor Carriers) or MCS-150B (Hazmat Carriers) form, and check the box out of business (out of motor carrier operations, even if the company is still in business) in the reason for filing section.

Items 1-16, 30 and 31 on the MCS-150 must be completed or your form will be rejected.

If the owner has died, a death certificate needs to be included in the submission for us to be able to process it.

You can submit the MCS-150/150B form to FMCSA in one of these ways:
Upload your updated and signed form via our web form (theis is the fastest way, and you will receive a tracking number)
By fax: You can fax the MCS-150 form to: 202-366-3477 or 606-330-3802
By mail: Send the updated and signed MCS-150 form to:
US Department of Transportation
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Office of Registration and Safety Information (MC-RS)
Room W65-206
1200 New Jersey Ave. SE
Washington, D.C. 20590

I get emails like that too. I go online and fill out the needed forms and submit usually for free why would I hire this company give then $100-200 to do what can be done myself for nothing or something a minimal filing fee.
Throw it out its a scam or at best a service for the lazy people

Go to the previous website via the link I posted.
Scroll down Below the black outlined text.

You will see the info J.Wondergem posted.
There is blue text in the words JW posted, those are links.
The first link takes you to a list of documents, click on first choice (MSC-150 or MSC-150B if you have haz mat too).
That click will take you to another page and at the top you click the blue text for a .pdf file to download the form and then print it out.
Fill it out, then scan it scan it via your multi function printer saving it as a .pdf file.
Then go back to the original webpage link in my other post.
Click on the second blue text "via our webform" fill in your info and upload the MSC-150 .pdf file you created.
