John Deere 2020 steering shaft with ball nut

Hi
I have a jd 2020 and the steering went out,it has a ball screw some call it a recirculating ball steering system.I cant seem to find parts for this been looking for awhile.I would hate to think this the end of this tractors life.My questions are is there a work around or does anyone know how to get this fixed.The ball screw tubes have failed and there is some scoring on the worm gear as well.This is a manual steering tractor.Wonder,Ive seen some power steering kits you think this may be a option.

I have a complete manual steering set up here I would sell if I can find it. You also can add power steering. Buy a steering column off a power steering tractor can be off a 1020,1520,2020,2030,2240,2440 or 2640. If it comes off a 1020 or 2020 the very early tractors used a different system and it will not work for a conversion. I have changed over several. There are even new aftermarket ones. Check this site or even Ebay. Tom

It sounds as if you're referring to manual steering. Is so if I was in your shoes I'd entertain as Tom suggested to change 2020 over to used power steering or another used manual steering unit .

Have you GOOGLED the part number, AT20372?

They are still available from DEERE for some $1900, from G&T Engine parts for $1270, some possible sources for used ones come up, and there's a seller on ebay selling NEW reproductions for $82.55 SHIPPED from India. (Auction #164272423806.)

I looked into the one from india i didnt work out.Thanks for you help.I was hoping I was able to find just the shaft and the ball screw as it is alot cheaper that a hole tower.
 
I looked today and I am afraid that last fall when cleaning up it went to scrap. I thought I saved it but was unable to locate it today when searching. Sorry as it was off a very low hour 1520 that we changed to power steering. Tom
 
You would need a used column and one line. You would need to either replace your one line going forward with one from a power steering tractor or have a fitting welded into the line. You could also add the priority valve that is under your right floor board but you really do not need it. I have done 3 or 4 over the years. Tom
