Went pulling over the weekend--did real good Fri. but broke the left drive chain in the rear of Abe on the first hook Sat. Case put 140 chain in it but we are replacing it with 140 heavy. The supply house Mc Master says it is over twice as strong as 140. I wish Case would have done that 70 years ago--they want $58 a foot and it will take 11 foot. Reminds me what the local fix-it shop in town said about a guy's Gleaner combine that spent most of the Fall in his shop--If a 1 and 1/4 in shaft would work--Gleaner would put in a 1 inch---Tee

A buddy drove it in one class--

Can't blame anybody--The chain is almost 70 years old--Don't know about 5 times the hp--Thanks--wished it was. Just checking to see if the Case guys were watching! It is only money and we always have the $$$ for our hobbies--Thanks again---Tee

The only difference between 140 and 140H is the thickness of the side plates. They can't do anything to the pins.

That's all well and good if the side plates are what's breaking, but if you're shearing pins it won't help things a bit.

Had to let him drive in order to get some of his Mom's good cookies!! He was also pouting real hard but he did a GOOD job--knocked his Dad back to second place--so they finished 1--2. I heard he is out of Mel's will.---Tee

The "G" DEERE boys have to sit backwards or the can't find the hand clutch!!!!!!!!!!

You are right--I saw the specs for both standard and heavy and the side plates on the heavy are only .035 thicker--.215--.250but they claim over twice the breaking strength--we will see.--Thanks---Tee

Interesting how different companies list chain strength.

I looked at the McMaster site and saw the difference in the listing between 140 (4500lb) and 140H (9200lb) listed as working load.

I looked at another site USArollerchain and they show the 140 tensile strength around 48 000 and the 140H around 53 000.

They all list tensile strength but only a few list working load.

They do list a HKK 140 chain with a working load of 11740lb.

So I am guessing the difference (twice as strong) is not as accurate as one would think when reading the McMaster data.

Thanks SV--Went to your site for the 140H chain--It is hard to compare because of shipping and one offers free connector link and one claims stronger...will keep comparing--your site in Florida is $16/ft. cheaper--thanks again---Tee

Thanks--all the sites want to sell 10 ft. lengts except for Mc.-Carr-they sell 1 ft. at a time--I need 5.5 ft./side. We are doing more checking--Thanks---Tee

Thanks SV--Found other chain also but they all had a boat ride but one. I saw another that showed the US flag but said "made in china". I found one that has a new old stock--beat up brand new US made box with 10. ft of 140H--We are dealing through the E-mail now--Thanks again---Tee
