My Honda motor has always started first pull now it's at least 5 pulls to get it going.I changed the plug drained and put fresh gas in new air filter. What should I try next?

Examine the choke system provided it is a carbureted engine which I assume it is. Mine always starts first pull unless cold out and then the automatic opening of the choke requires me to manually hold the choke on partially and gradually allow it to open up. If that choke doesn't close fully it will be hard starting.

On mine , I have to put choke on , then start it and choke gradually opens up in normal summer time temps.

My Honda Harmony - which ordinarily starts on the 2nd pull - will over the course of a season gradually require additional pulls before it will start. Problem is linkage wear/cable stretch causing the choke to not close fully.

Fix is to adjust the throttle cable so the choke closes TIGHT when the speed control is fully forward.

But also make sure the screws that attach the carburetor to the head are tight. Otherwise air will leak around the gasket and render the choke ineffective.

I am with Bob,mine broke the stud that held the carb on. Still it was the best mower I ever owned.
