Lee Van Cleave

Watching the movie The Good the Bad and the Ugly tonight. I noticed Lee Van Cleef is missing part of middle finger on his right hand. Interesting

Sounds like he was accident prone!

From Wikipedia:
He lost the last joint of the middle finger of his right hand while building a playhouse for his daughter. In 1958, a severe car crash nearly cost Van Cleef his life and career. A resulting knee injury made his physicians think that he would never ride a horse again.

I noticed that too! Maybe Clint shot it off in an earlier movie? I wonder about their accuracy at > 50 yards with an old 6-shooter? I can't shoot nearly that well with my .357 using the sights!

Always liked Lee, and the good the bad and the ugly one of my all-time favorites, especially for the music. I think he was Angel Eyes in that movie.

Someone here posted a link awhile back to the soundtrack done by the Danish Symphony Orchestra. Look for it online, it's on utube. Great production, they do the music from the whole movie.

Agreed he was a great actor. I also remember him from Sabata, Death Rides A Horse, and The Grand Duel (movie sucked but he still did well in it). He was also in Gunfight AT The O.K. Corral briefly. Lots of other westerns too but I cannot think of them now.

Mine too. It was made by Italians with Italian music and filmed in Spain to simulate Mexico. Go figure. I was at Casabonita in Denver one time and asked the strolling musicians/mariachi band if they knew some real mexican music like the theme song from the good, the bad, and the ugly. Of course they didn't know it.

Back in the 70's the drive-ins would have a Clint Eastwood night. The Good, the bad, and the Ugly, Hang em High, Fistful of dollars, and a few dollars. A real marathon if you could make it till around 3 in the morning.
