Living on the wild side

I decided to run my 07 GMC through the carwash to test out old distributor I coated with WD40. I left engine running and it didn't skip a beat. So did WD40 do the trick? Did my truck just need a new coil?

Now I'm going to have a hard time talking myself into a new truck. Sometimes I win the argument when talking to myself. Sometimes self wins.
I don't have to convince anybody when it comes to buying anything except for myself.

There was plenty of heat and humidity under the hood. Steam was coming out from under the hood.

George that's a nice looking truck. I feel same way you do, back & forth. Like what I have, does what I need and right now is dependable. No desire to leave the farm to listen to a car dealer until necessary or I decide to trade anyway.

By heat, humidity and steam did you mean a repair was necessary? For me, I'm not willing to pay the big bucks for newer vehicles. As long as my truck is dependable and does what I need it to do when I need it to do it, I'll keep my money in my pocket. I would much rather spend the money on a repair and know what I've got than buy a newer used. Totally unwilling to pay the insane cost of new. FYI - I drive a 1997 Ford F-350 crew cab with the 7.3 diesel. Even when the engine eventually gives it up, I'll probably have it rebuilt rather than spending tens of thousands on a newer one, especially since the body of my truck is still in very good shape, like yours.

In 07 GM was hurting. This truck was
undesirable. It was only 2 wheel drive, a
6 cylinder , a long bed and sat on dealer
lot for a long time. It was the exact truck I wanted.

I stole the truck $13,400 out the door
taxes and dealer prep included.

Before I drove it home Z'Tech under
coated, top coated with special wax, and
bed liner. No signs of rust in the rust
belt.

I'll never buy a new truck without having
it undercoated.

In the late 60s I worked at a gas station
that undercoated new cars for $19.95.
I can tell you how many cars I did. We
only sprayed the under side. Z tech did
inside doors, rocker panels and places
that trap dirt, salt and water.

Nancy.
Sunday the truck had to be towed home. It was rainy, warm and humid. I thought distributor shorted out. While getting ready to replace distributor I noticed coil was bad. So I bought a new coil. Decided not to change cap,. Coated cap with WD40.
I definitely needed a coil. Not sure if my 2 year old distributor cab was bad. Not sure if

WD40 took care of problem.

It did survive the car wash. Going to see how long distributor will last.

I go with the coil fixing it.

It was obviously leaking voltage through the case.

The moisture was just aggravating the problem.

Yep Im also the only person I have to convince .I m cheap .might be cause I grew up with not a lot of spare cash available

NO! NOT FOR SALE
Like I may have said, my truck is the last of the low rider classic.
I had it undercoated when new, Z tech. No rust and I live in the rust belt.
If body holds up and either the transmission of engine needs replaced, I may look for a very smart mechanic to replace both with upgraded model. Mechanis has to be very smart to install new ECM and make engine, tranny and the guages work too.
