That was a creature from an early Star Trek. Or brave Capt. Kirk was plucked off the Enterprise and transported to a strange planet buy a "superior being". He did one on one battle against this cute fellow. Of course Capt. Kirk was victorious. I don't remember why the "superior being" did this, or maybe I have my episodes intermixed. Its been many years since I watched any reruns.

I do remember that Kirk defeated our friend here by constructing a crude firearm/cannon. Kirk found the makings of gun powder in the raw laying around in the country side.

He was victorious but it was only after quite a tussle with the creature having the upper hand till a last second comeback by Kirk. Take that sentence and apply it to all of Kirk's fights.

Alien lizard race known as 'Gorn'.One was pitted against Captain James T. Kirk in a fight to the death in a fight to save the human race.As usual.Kirk won,Didnt kill the Gorn(out smarted the aliens) and saved the human race from anialation.

yup oregon tractor jack, you got it! the federation built an outpost on a planet called cestus3, but they did not know the planet was part of the gorn empire. the gorns destroyed the outpost and sent a distress call luring the enterprise in, a battle ensued, the gorn ship took off with the enterprise in pursuit. they passed thru a star system inhabited by a superior race called the metrons. they sent both captains to a deserted planet to duke it out, winner take all. kirk won, spared the gorn and impressed the metrons. i really wish there was one of those green orion slave girls in that episode!!

Has anybody ever noticed all of the cliches in most science fiction space adventures?

1) Every race is superior to us lowly humans.

2) Every alien has a short single name of 5 letters or less.

3) Every alien (to us) race has some sort of "super" powers. Like being able to use telekinesis to move things or able to throw electrical bolts?

4) In every case, other folks from other planets always address the humans in proper English. We cannot speak or understand their language but they have perfect mastery of ours.

5) Against all odds, superior weaponry of our opponents, superior propulsion systems, and all of their "magical" wizardry, the humans ALWAYS prevail. The humans always find that weakness of their adversaries and exploit it to save the day.

After watching enough of the science fiction, it all becomes so much the same that it actually becomes boring.
