Ferguson and/or Ford N series PTO Winch

Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me out with some information regarding a PTO driven winch. I have a 1948 8n. I have seen many videos online of Ferguson PTO driven winches, manufactured by Hesford in the UK I believe. All videos I have seen were either on TE-20's or similar but newer Ferguson's.
My question for the group is:
1. were these winches made or available only in the UK? Were they ever available in North America?
2. Are they compatible with Ford N series tractors?
3. Does anyone anywhere have a potential lead on one that I could buy?

I presume that they would fit and be compatible with any Ferguson system tractor including my 8n. I am in Canada and realize that shipping one is likely my only option.
Thanks a lot!

The 8n has position control on the 3
point lift the Ferguson does not its
either up or down no in between unless
you use chains to limit how far down it
will go I think the 8n would be a better
choice for something like that

I purchased as per picture..........I'm totally satisfied with the control of my TEA-20 Ferguson Three point lift...

Pictures of PTO Winch....curtesy of pics on "YT" Tractor.....

Hard to believe that a Ford has position control when a Ferguson does not. Ferguson won the 5 year law suit sueing Ford for copying Ferguson's tractor.

I build them for resale, most I build now are hydraulic as in the attached photo but can gladly
build you a pto driven model.

Not sure what your intended use is but there are several manufacturers of pto driven 3 point hitch mounted winches intended for
skidding logs behind a tractor. Some names are Farmi, Uniforest and there are more I cant recall at the moment. They are made in
several sizes for different size tractors. I have a Uniforest I purchased used and it is really impresssive what it will do. The
limiting factor for an 8n would be how much it would handle once the log is skidded out and hooked to the winch to move. Front end
gets light fast. You can probably find some you tube videos of a skidding winch at work.

I have a TracTor winch that will mount onto the Ford or Massey tractors
where the drawbar mounts and where the top link mounts. Good heavy duty
winch that I used for quite awhile but no longer cut much wood so I'm gonna
sell it. Email's open

Is this the winch you are asking about? I have never seen one here in Canada,
however if there was one, I am fairly sure it would work on your 8n. They were
quite popular in the UK.

Thank you all sincerely for your posts. Yes the picture above is exactly what I am talking about. It is a very useful machine. It has legs that go down and dig in to the ground to isolate the pulling force from the tractor.
It sounds like these were only available in the UK. Thanks again to everyone. If anyone sees or hears of this winch in the North America please let me know, I am hot on on the trail!
