Sturgeon spearing.

Second day of sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago and its tributaries. I'm not there but just thought I'd mention it. They had 15 inches of ice to cut through on Friday.

Here in the Wolverine--I try to eat at restaurants that are approved by the Sturgeon General,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I visited there years ago during sturgeon season - One guy said he practiced concentration by staring at the test pattern on a black and white TV. That convinced me that activity was close to a religion. They are awesome animals (the fish).

Is that the same guy that told us not to smoke, unless it is a fish. I think you just started a fish punfest. bill

bad fish jokes now? 2 parrots were sitting on a perch. one says to the other "do you smell fish?"

2 weeks ago my friend gave me 4 ells that he trapped and then smoked--from great south bay on long island

This may not be significant, but my wife and I lived in Fond du Lac from Jan 1, 2010 until Labor Day 2011. It was a good job while it lasted and we really enjoyed living there, despite the cold weather and heavy snow.
I think Winnebago ice got 24 or 25 inches thick both of those winters. The southern end of the lake was covered with fishing shacks. I didn’t have the nerve to venture out onto the ice. I did see pictures of a lot of big sturgeon taken during the season. One I remember was laying on the tailgate of a pickup truck with the head and tail hanging off the sides.
