Current temperature in our part of Saskatchewan is at -40 Celsius, well guess what that converts to exactly -40 Fahrenheit.

Wherever you are at or from that is cold.

Tonight they are calling for -54 with the wind chill.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

OUCHHH. That’s making good a lot of ice Be careful out
there. We had -24 at 6am in central minn . The dogs just go
do there business and head back for the kennel . And I head
for the house Be careful every one

Yup -42 here in NW SK. It Makes me wish I had the 1070 case tractor in the shop for easier starting. Synthetic oil
in the engine and transmission, and the circulating heater and block heater plugged in... it will go. Cows must be
fed. I think they eat twice as much in this weather. Stay warm out there!!!
Ranch.

-40 miles ant too common here, but -30 or colder happens
most years. Haven't had that for a couple years now. Today
should be our coldest day and at -22 it's not that bad. Kinda
late in the season for it tho. Not sure what that means for the
upcoming summer.

Fun fun fun we are now at -44.

Had to take a hair dryer over to the son's place earlier this morning, his propane regulator was froze up.

Amazingly my Chevy fired up sitting outside and not plugged in.

We tried that metric stuff when I was a little kid. Speed limit signs in MPH and KM. Never took hold. Worked for a German company for 31 years, got used to it.

We hit -34F (-36.7C) last I knew. Probably got slightly colder for a brief time towards morning. Woke up this morning to the clock flashing, so had a couple of these new-fangled space heaters that didn't come back on. I stayed cozy warm, but the wife.....she wasn't happy. And you ALL know what [i:b4602e2053]that[/i:b4602e2053] means! *lol*

Year before last, was preparing for a CA trip from mid-east Iowa, this deep freeze stuff caused my Camry windshield to split from a little tiny rock chip I had ignored for two years. Got it replaced and the next day for CA...wx folks said it was -51 windchill that morning!
Bragged about that in every motel I stopped at on the way! lol Leo

On this date back in 75 it was -26 with a ragging snow storm here in N/E Ohio . I always said it would be a cold day in Hatties when i would get married and Satin always said it freeze over vwhen is sister got married. every year bit last it has always been cold . Now today here it's not bad at +19 . All week the weather guessers were calling for below 0 temps but it has not made it yet.Coldest i personally have worked in is -36 . With this ageing thing now i tell people don't look for me till the outside temp reaches my age .

That's cold all right. When it's that cold, your house must be real cold also. Do you insolate the walls of your houses? What is the main source of heat some of you use? Must be fairly pricy using heating oil. Stan

At that rate, I think most of us will let "your part of Saskatchewan" remain your part. 40 F here in SW Washington, as it is most every morning in winter, within a degree or so either way. We did hit 25 once
this winter, but that's cold enough for me.

Toasty warm inside the house.
Walls and ceilings are well insulated.
Furnace is on propane, 1000 gallon tank lasts us 12-14 months, that includes the gas stove in the kitchen.

I put r 20 Insulation in the outside walls and added 1” of foil backed styrofoam. There is r40 in the attic. Also a must here in colder climates is a vapour barrier ( plastic) installed behind the Sheetrock. Vapour barrier is put on the warm side of the insulation. This keep the moisture out of the insulation. The Basement is insulated ICF that is very warm. As for heating we have an electric boiler and radiant lines in the floor. Costly yes, but no work involved. A couple of days a month of Overtime where I work keeps the Electricity paid. I often wonder what folks in warm climates do all year when they don’t have to “get ready” because winter is coming. This climate separates the men from the boys.

Coldest I can remember in Eastern Iowa is -38. Roads were good but no school due to danger if a bus broke down. My Son was in 4th grade, well still have to learn. Threw boiling water into the air, never hit
the ground. Cracked open the valve on a small bottle of of propane laid it on its side and watch it come out as a liquid then vaporize. Fun Times

No, this hundred year old house stays around 70 degrees most of the day with a little help from the gas furnace. I let it shut down overnight and its more like 60 by early morning when I get up. They say you sleep better in a cool house and I believe it. Gas bill is 80 per month equalized year round. That includes our "carbon tax".

Coldest I remember here in Western PA was I think 1979 we had no higher than -20 for a week, one night down to -32.

Considering the Clap-Board houses they erected for most normal folks back in the turn of the century in Texas, you got yourself a winner. Agree on the
cool house and you sleep better....snuggled up under the covers.....however you manage that..........

Reference the above by the shape of the covers in the morning. On hot nights it looks like a cat fight occurred. On cool nights and especially after a
hard day's work, they are unbelievably neat.
