Hello, I am searching for some info on a piece of equipment i was given. Its a mccormick deering cultivator. could be horse drawn. pretty much all there bur rusty. would like to get a general age on it , colors and maybe a pict or manual. Like to possibly show it at out pioneer days and the deering estate has a tractor show once a year. Thanks for any guidence.

The link provided to the IH paint committee decisions will help. In my opinion using clear coat on the rusty surface might be a best
representation. Not only did the original paint fade very early, but was almost never replaced. (opinion) Jim

Interesting,I bought a nice field cultivator,of course no info on the item, but it was all there,as i was bringing it home i parked at a Fleet farm, there was a guy walking out with a IHC shirt on, started talking to him,he delivered machinery for the local IHC dealer there, for 40 years,he was the one told me it was a NO.9. It has the ground lift on the right wheel, with about a 55 Flat chain,i just sandblasted and painted it IHC red, Martin Seynour Paint, still looks good, after 20 years,But i like Jims idea of putting a clear coast on it, You going to use it for yard art ? Buy mine to show, the progression!

well after a day with pb blaster wire wheel and some red paint. it still has lots of rust. looks like most of it was black at one time. think i will go with ihc red. but first like to get most of the joints working. still have not decided on a year. early 1900 maybe.
found a repo manual on line that may help
